The Hunter division is a branch of horse show competition that is judged on the horse’s performance, soundness and when indicated, conformation, suitability or manners. Hunter Jumpers compete in a jump course set up for them, each class is based on the height of the jumps that the horse must clear without faults.

Show jumping is a competitive equestrian event in which horse and rider are required to jump, usually within a time limit, a series of obstacles that have been designed for a particular show. Show jumpers are not judged on conformation or elegance of jumping but the speed and agility that they use to complete the course without making any faults.

Reining is a western riding competition for horses where the riders guide the horses through a precise pattern of circles, spins, and stops. All work is done at the lope, or the gallop. Reining is a judged event designed to show the athletic ability of a ranch-type horse within the confines of a show arena.

Cutting-Horse and rider must move into a herd of cattle, cut one cow from the herd, drive it to the center of the arena and “hold” it away from the herd. The horse is scored on its ability to keep the cow from returning to the herd, cow sense, attentiveness and courage. There is a 2-1/2-minute time limit.
